Structure and tips for writing effective cover letters for Indian job applications.
How to Write a Cover Letter That Gets Noticed
Keep it to one page and three parts: why you're interested in the role and company, what you bring (2–3 relevant skills or experiences), and a closing line that asks for the next step. Address it to the hiring manager or recruiter if you can find the name.
Mention the job title and company name. Use the job description to mirror their language and requirements. Give one concrete example (e.g., 'In my last role, I led X which is similar to what you need for Y'). Avoid repeating your resume verbatim.
Proofread carefully. Save as PDF with a clear filename (YourName_CoverLetter_CompanyName). Many Indian companies don't require cover letters, but when they do, a tailored letter can set you apart.
