Upskilling While Job Hunting
How to learn new skills during your job search without losing momentum.
Upskilling While Job Hunting
Pick 1–2 skills that are in demand for your target roles. Use free or low-cost resources: YouTube, Coursera, freeCodeCamp, or official docs. Set a fixed time each day or week so job search and learning don't crowd each other out.
Build something small: a project, a GitHub repo, or a write-up. It gives you something to talk about in interviews and shows initiative. Add the skill and project to your resume and LinkedIn. Mention in interviews: 'I've been learning X and built Y.'
Don't wait until you 'finish' a course to apply. Apply in parallel and keep improving. Short courses and certifications can be completed in a few weeks and immediately strengthen your profile.
