Resume Tips for Experienced Professionals

How to present years of experience and achievements on your resume.

Resume Tips for Experienced Professionals

Start with a short summary (3–4 lines) that states your experience, domain, and key strengths. Then list experience in reverse chronological order. For each role: company, title, dates, and 4–6 bullet points focused on impact and scope.

Use numbers: % improvement, team size, scale, revenue, or time saved. Lead with the result when possible: 'Reduced deployment time by 40% by introducing CI/CD' instead of 'Worked on CI/CD.' Use strong verbs: Led, Designed, Implemented, Scaled, Optimized.

Keep earlier roles briefer; recent roles get more space. Include education and key certifications. Skills section can be shorter if your experience already shows them. Two pages max; make every line earn its place.
