How to Write the Skills Section of Your Resume

Group skills by category: Programming Languages, Frameworks & Libraries, Tools, Databases, etc. List only what you're comfortable discussing in an interview. You can mention 'Familiar with' or 'Learning' for a few if relevant, but be clear.

Match the job description: if they want Python and SQL, those should appear. Order by relevance to the role. Some candidates list proficiency (Beginner/Intermediate/Expert)—optional; many prefer just listing. Avoid listing every tool you've touched; focus on what you use well.

Technical and soft skills: keep technical skills in the main skills section. You can add one line on soft skills (e.g., 'Communication, teamwork, problem-solving') or weave them into bullet points. Don't overdo soft skills—they're better shown through examples in experience.
